Collection Notes: Patient should fast for 12 hours prior to collection. Moderately or grossly hemolyzed, icteric, or lipemic specimens are not acceptable.
Clinical Utility: APO B is a strong indicator of CAD (coronary artery disease). Apolipoprotein B is the only protein of LDL; therefore it is useful for follow-up studies in patients with abnormal LDL cholesterol values.
