Clinical Utility: This test is used mainly to evaluate normalcy of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis. LH measurement is used also in the diagnosis and treatment of infertility in women. Decreased LH levels are associated with primary ovarian hyperfunction in females and primary hypergonadism in males.
