Collection Notes:Patient must be fasting for 12 – 14 hours. Collect specimen in a NMR LipoTube. Centrifuge but do not open NMR tube. Ship tube with frozen cool packs. If collected in an EDTA (lavender) tube, centrifuge immediately. Remove plasma into a labeled screw-capped transport tube. Ship plasma tube with frozen cool packs.
Clinical Utility:This test is used in conjunction with other lipid measurements to aid in the management of lipoprotein disorders associated with cardiovascular disease.
