Increased Rate of Chronic Conditions for Millenials

  • April 19, 2023

A recent study focused on the health of millennials and compared it to previous generations by analyzing data from the National Health Interview Survey (NHIS) from 1982-2018 and found that millennials are experiencing higher rates of chronic health conditions compared to earlier generations at the same age. The researchers involved in the study found that millennials have higher rates of several chronic health conditions, including hypertension, high cholesterol, and depression.

The study found that when compared to Generation X (people born between 1965 and 1980), millennials had a 2.6 times higher prevalence of hyperactivity, a 1.8 times higher prevalence of hypertension, and a 2.2 times higher prevalence of high cholesterol. Additionally, compared to the baby boomer generation (born between 1946 and 1964), millennials had a 3.5 times higher prevalence of hyperactivity, a 2.3 times higher prevalence of hypertension, and a 19 times higher prevalence of diabetes.

The study, highlighted in a recent Fox News article, underscores the importance of regular health monitoring and preventative measures, which can be supported through tests like our Basic Wellness Panel. This panel is a comprehensive blood test that can help identify potential health issues and monitor chronic conditions like hypertension, high cholesterol, and diabetes – conditions that the millennial generation is experiencing at higher rates than previous generations.

Regular testing can help individuals identify potential health issues early on, allowing for more effective treatment and management of chronic conditions. The Wellness Basic Panel can also provide insight into other important health markers, such as liver function, kidney function, and electrolyte levels, which can help individuals make informed decisions about their lifestyle choices and preventative measures.

As the millennial generation continues to age and face unique challenges to their health, regular testing and preventative measures become increasingly important. Our Basic Wellness Panel provides a comprehensive and convenient option for individuals looking to take charge of their health and stay ahead of potential health issues.
